In this video I cover a method of installing and playing Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars on Linux as well as modding the game.

1. Installation.

Install the game as normal, but make sure to run the game using Proton Experimental.

All the campaigns and skirmish modes work, but the game will crash if you ALT & TAB out.

The same steps can be applied to install and run the expansion Kane's Wrath.

2. Multiplayer.

For playing multiplayer, I recommend using C&C Online, as the original servers are now shutdown, however this will only work on Windows, and not Linux.

3. Modding

For this video I use build 1.6 Tiberium Essence with the recommended patch.

Once the mod is downloaded, extract the archive and take a copy of the extracted TiberiumEssence folder.

Next, open Steam, right click on the Properties of the game, select the LOCAL FILES tab, and click the Browse button.

From here, navigate to compatdata/24790/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars, create a new folder called mods and paste the copied TiberiumEssence inside.

Once done, open Steam, right click on the Properties of the game, select the GENERAL tab and under LAUNCH OPTIONS type -ui.

Now when you launch the game you will be greeted by the launcher window, so click the Game Browser tab, and click the Mods tab.

The mod tab is buggy under Wine, so once you open it once, immediately close it, and try again, this time you will be able to select the mod from the list.
