How To Make A Rodent Hammock | The Bed
4How to easily construct the bed/base of a rat hammock.

In this version of a hammock, which can be used for any small animal that lives in a cage or tank, you will need several things:
2 SQUARES OF FABRIC: Although the squares are fairly small in the video, you will want larger squares like in the picture I shared of my original hammock. How large it is depends entirely on the size of the animal, and the size of the tank/cage.
4 STRIPS OF FABRIC: These strips are going to be just slightly longer than the length of the sides of each square. Make sure to keep at least an inch of extra fabric prepared so you have room to fold. When you don't fold your fabric/turn it inside out, any weak points on your fabric will be more likely to fray or get caught on things. Having extra fabric on the edges also gives you the freedom to change up whichever edge you want to incorporate.. such as; thickness, width, or angle.
4 SHORTER STRIPS OF FABRIC: These strips are entirely up to you in size/width, depending on the way you want to attach your loops of fabric. These loops are what you will attach a ribbon, hanger, or other tie/hook to. In my original hammock. I used hangers, and covered up all the paint/metal with soft fabric.
PINS: These aren't necessary but are preferred. They'll make your life easier.
SCISSORS: Or any sharp object that can cut/rip thread.
NEEDLE & THREAD: Self explanatory.

NOTE: I don't recommend the usage of Felt in your quilt, and this fabric was only chosen for demonstration purposes.
Your rodent's claws can get caught in the fabric, and the fibers can separate.
The materials I used in my hammock bed were Denim and Silk (although the silk was fragile and he ripped through it quickly).
