Hi hi hi! This is my first -official- knowledge bomb. I hope graphic artists and video game texture designers, skinners, and modders find this helpful. It's a very concise and easy to follow tutorial on how to make a realistic (at least in my opinion) wood grain texture from scratch in GIMP, a free open source graphic editor.
