How to make Clans Stay in your kingdom? I always see this question in
my comments, i made video in April about this, but it does seem like a good
time to make another updated version of this video. So this video will be as
of the 1.5.0 beta patch.
So before i begin, there has been a couple of changes to lords, the economy and things that will directly or indirectly effect the likelihood of clan staying
or leaving your kingdom. I will mention any changes as we go through the steps.
Okay so first:
I do have a video on how to make a clan join, it was made also a little bit
ago, but not much has changed in terms of that process, so the link to that
video will be down below if you need it - https://youtu.be/0Xd_p2x796A
Now lets talk about what YOU want from a kingdom to stay?
- Fiefs - For more income, influence and power
- War Loot - Amazing loot, prisoners, possible troops after big battles
- Success - Who doesn't like to win
This is the same for clans, they want these three things as well or they will
leave.
BTW all of these are for major faction clans, not minor faction clans.
So fiefs first - Clans want land and if they do have land, they will have
guaranteed income, influence and power over the area. What i do after a clan joins, is go and siege a castle or town and give that fief to the new clan.
Now in terms of income, if a clan keeps losing money, they will eventually
leave. As of 1.4.3, lord defection was made harder even if they do not have a fief, as long as they have money.
Money can be given directly to a clan or indirectly:
First some clans will ask you for money when they join, the higher amount
they want, the less chance they will stay, so be vary with giving over 200K
for a clan, but anything lower is fine and will actually help the clan
stay longer.
Now if a clan joins for free and you cannot get a fief right away, here is
what you can do, make them join your army and go get into some big fights
and raids (This is where War loot comes in). Every time you win, all resources and denars will be split between you and everyone else in the army, so if you win a lot, your clans will gain a lot of denars.
Also you can give denars to head of the clan in a bartar to up their money and confidence to stay in the clan. This also ups your reputation with them and charm skill.
Now speaking on reputation, you need to have and keep good reputation with your clans to make them stay. Reputation goes up in many ways and can go down in many ways as well.
So here is how to up reputation:
First when a clan joins now, they will gain reputation with your kingdom
and lose some with the kingdom they left.
Next when you see a lord that is part of a clan that is under your kingdom in
a fight, join the fight always even if clan is winning by hundreds of troops,
once you help and win, you will gain reputation with the clan.
Next you can obviously bartar with clan members like i stated above and that will also gain reputation.
Lastly you can trade in your influence for reputation with any clan under
your kingdom. This can be done in the kingdoms tab where all the clans names are located. You can choose a clan and then press the support button that is located under the fiefs that the clan owns. This button takes 50 influence and give you +2 reputation to the clan you selected.
Clans lose reputation with your kingdom if they oppose a vote that is made,
if you take some of their fiefs away and also if one of their fiefs are taken
by an enemy, so make sure you do not give your clans only risky fiefs, give
them safe fiefs inside your kingdom as well.
Now lets talk about success, lords want the kingdom and their clan to be
successful, if a clan loses all their troops and keeps getting captured,
they will leave. If this is happening in your game, go to general location
and help them win some fights, invite them to your army and push back their enemies.
Also policies are big, they all provide benefits and negatives that your clans
will experience, check current support for any policy you wish to pass, if
everyone in the clan wants it, then consider passing it, it will help your
clans stay.
Lastly remember not all clans will stay with you, some will leave, some will
betray you and take their land with them, it happens. Also as of 1.5.0 lords
can be killed in battle, so be ready for a lot of votes for new owners of
fiefs because lords, companions and even you the player can die a lot more
frequently now.
Also before the video ends, i did start a patreon and its nothing crazy,
just using it for basic support, no pay walling, my content will always be
free, just if you want to support me and what i do further, check it out,
