In this video, I demonstrate how to prepare microscope slides using basic materials you can easily find at home! I show you a simple and cost-effective way to create professional-looking slides with diluted PVA glue and a home-made jig to position the cover glass accurately.

Materials used

Mounting medium:-
Clear PVA (not white) glue mixed with 10-15% distilled water (or clean tap water will do).

Ethanol:-
In a small glass spray bottle.

Slide preparation jig:-
Something heavy with a flat top surface. I used a big piece of Aluminium (Old heat sink)
with a small PCB attached to the top and two small bull dog clips.

Cover glass:-
22mm x 22mm (Thickness 0.13 -0.17mm).

Microscope slides:-
76mm x 26mm (1-1.2mm thick)

Slide preparation labels:-

Teasing needle:-
Out of a Dr James 1008 student high quality dissection kit or any sharp stainless steel pin will do.

Artist's paint brush (size 4):-
Any small artist's brush will do.

Miscellaneous:-
Stainless steel tweezers,
Pure cotton buds,
Glue stick.
