The Paper Clay layer is Optional. It creates a really smooth clay surface but can get heavy. A cheaper and lightweight alternative is to use Plaster paper strips which can be at your local craft store or online. Just sand it to make it smoother and seal with varnish.

For the template, you can try freehanding it or blow up your favorite No Face picture and trace it.
