A consumable is a physical product that is treated like a stockable product, with the exception that stock management is not taken into account by the system. You could buy it, deliver it, or produce it, but OpenERP will always assume that there is enough of it in stock. It never triggers a procurement exception. For consumable products, Odoo will create shipment transactions against purchase orders and delivery orders against sales orders. Odoo won’t show up with warning messages in quotations if there isn’t enough balance in the stock. Odoo will allow processing delivery orders even if the product doesn’t have a balance in stock.
