4Odoo allows you to reserve packages along with products during sales orders. This ensures you have enough packaging materials to fulfill the order. Here's a breakdown of package reservations in Odoo:
Configuration (Odoo v15 and above):
Enable Packaging: In the Inventory module settings, activate the "Packaging" feature.
Set Up Products:
In the product category, you'll find a new field called "Reserve Packaging."
This allows you to define if Odoo should reserve full or partial packages for the product.
Functionality:
Sales Order Creation:
When creating a sales order with a product that has packaging enabled, Odoo will automatically calculate the required package quantity based on the sales order quantity and the packaging unit.
Reservation Behavior:
If "Reserve Packaging" is set to "Fully Reserved," Odoo will only reserve full package quantities. For example, if you order 20 items of a product packaged in boxes of 10, Odoo will reserve 2 boxes (2 full packages).
If "Reserve Packaging" is set to "Partially Reserved," Odoo will only reserve partial package quantities. For example, if you order 20 items of a product packaged in boxes of 10,and the on-hand quantity is 15 Odoo will reserve 1 full boxes and partial quantity from other box (1.5 packages).
Confirmation and Delivery:
Confirming the sales order triggers the reservation process. Odoo allocates the required packaging materials, ensuring they're available for picking and delivery.
