How to Not Get Hit - Episode 17 - Rogue Legacy - Let's Play Rogue Legacy
It's not an easy task - not getting hit. In fact, it's one of the hardest skills I've had to accomplish in Rogue Legacy. In today's Rogue Legacy Let's Play, we take another swing at farming out the castle, while searching for Ponce De Leon.
Our first heir had a fear of anthropomorphic animals that had been turned into animatronics, a feat not doable by normal men. The gnashing teeth, the desperation to not be eaten alive because he was different from his ancestors, and the fear of death - these all taught our heir one important lesson.
DON'T GET HIT! BY ANYTHING! EVER!
Rogue Legacy's most important tactic for success is learning how to not take damage. On paper, that sounds very silly, but it's not an easy skill to acquire. Up until this point, many of the heirs to the throne didn't know of that skill. And many more had yet to learn it.
The Spellsword class might just be one of my favorites, due to its ability to create stronger versions of the spell it has. This, in essence, makes avoiding damage easier. The best defense is a good offense, after all! Or, that's how the phrase should go.
But besides the Spellsword, another good class for damage avoidance is the Shinobi, due to how nimble they are. This makes getting out of a pinch fairly simple, because the name of the game is speed. If you're slow, you'll probably be hit.
But the search for Ponce De Leon would, hopefully, finalize that lesson in our brain. How do we avoid taking damage while we build the castle and take its treasures for ourselves?
Sometimes damage is completely unavoidable, and in those moments you just have to roll with the punches. Not everything can easily be controlled like Alexander the Forgotten, and not everything comes down to strict timing like Neo Khidr.
This Let's Play for Rogue Legacy has been interesting, because I don't typically play roguelike games. But the difficulty, the setting, and the overall mechanics of the game are the best parts of it! It's been really enjoyable for me to start playing this game, and I can only hope I finish it feeling the same way.
Also, we figured out Jack's favorite flavor of ice cream, and talked about why I don't have a favorite holiday treat. Seriously, I kinda despise the holidays. I'm blaming all of that on the fact that we start playing
Just an editor's note for you all - this Friday, we'll only be uploading one episode of our Rogue Legacy Let's Play. We didn't record Star Wars: Battlefront 2 for long enough, so we only had enough footage for that to get us up to Thursday. That was due to the holidays. Not sure what our schedule is looking like this weekend, but we'll try to record if we can. Hopefully, after the holidays, we'll be up and running with a more reliable schedule!
Thanks, everybody!

"Rogue Legacy is a genealogical rogue-"LITE" where anyone can be a hero. Each time you die, your child will succeed you. Every child is unique. One child might be colorblind, another might have vertigo-- they could even be a dwarf. That's OK, because no one is perfect, and you don't have to be perfect to win this."
