About this video: This video will show you exactly how to optimize WordPress for speed in order to make your WordPress website run fast and efficiently. WordPress out of the box isn't the most optimized platform out there. It is, however, one of the best platforms out there to host any kind of website. From a blog to a simple landing page for your business to even a subscription site or ecommerce store, WordPress is one of the if not the best platforms out there!
But, if you don't optimize it for speed, it can hurt your search engine rankings, increase bounce rates, and hurt sales. So, how do we stop this? Well, the answer is simple, we need to do everything we can to make WordPress lightning fast. This video goes over 4 different plugins that are extremely easy to install and setup that when combined will significantly improve your WordPress site's loading time.
The first is a simple plugin called Lazy Loader. Lazy Loader makes it to where images only load just before they appear on the page. This improves initial page loading time drastically. The next is WP-Optimize. This plugin minify's your Javascript, CSS, and HTML in WordPress something that will help page load times and Google Speed scores.
Next, we have W3 Total Cache. W3 Total Cache is the king of WordPress caching plugins in my opinion with a ton of power behind it. It allows for everything from object caching to general page caching, and it is a must have for WordPress. Lastly, we optimize images with the WP Smush image optimizer. I also cover Optimizilla which is an image compressor you can use before uploading the image to your site.
By combining all of these methods, your WordPress site will fly in terms of speed, and you should see an impressive increase in Google Speed rankings and general load times on Pingdom.
