How To Play B-Daman Baku Gaiden: Victory e no Michi
17After playing through this entire game, using only a few images from a strategy guide/manual and a random Youtube comment, I decided I should write a description of how to play this game. This tutorial will show you how to navigate the basic menus, battle enemies, transform and reach the true final boss. Writing a walkthrough isn't enough, as the images really help pull this thing together.

Edit 12/28/20 - Here's a bunch of notes I made when I played the game through again.
- Every map has sections that are deemed "random areas" by the guidebook. They will be randomized while others will remain the same.
- To get past the boss gate in Area 4-5, you need Black Bomber in your party.
- You can unlock the boss' transformation cards to add to your collection but the guide says you can't use them. I haven't tried it myself.
- Revisiting treasure chests can earn you multiples of cards, even transformation cards.
- To get Black's Bird and Final Transformations, you must do the following: go to stage 4-6 and defeat several of the minibosses. The guide wasn't clear but it requires at least two to be beaten. In the same stage you will find a gate in the random area which will get you the Black Bird transformation as well as another black animal card. Go to stage 2-1 and you can now go behind the locked gate on the upper left side of the screen. There you will get Black's final transformation.
- Similarly, in stage 4-6, defeat several minibosses and you will find a second gate, different from the one mentioned above. Behind it is the Saint Mech, the transformation that leads to the best one in the game, the Saint Dragon.
- The Saint Dragon's card is in stage 4-7, above the first miniboss.
- Most transformations can be earned by finding them in treasure chests or defeating minibosses.
Now for the Eggs. The eggs are required to get to the true final boss. Here's their locations:
Stage 4-6 (Purple): I'm fairly certain this must be collected first. It's in the bottom left area of the screen.
Stage 1-1 (Yellow): Bottom right of the map, past the miniboss
Stage 1-4 (Green): It's random. Awful, I know.
Stage 2-5 (Red): Top of the map near the home base
Stage 3-2 (Blue): Bottom left behind the gate
Stage 3-5 (Brown): Bottom left past the miniboss
Stage 4-4 (Light Blue): Random. Really a pain to find.
What's worth noting is when you go to stage 3-1, you can enter the passwords after collecting the eggs. The guide notes this to be a "hatching" of the eggs and will give you 7 more monster cards when you do so. Some are pretty strong!
- Beating the true final boss (Dark Dragon) will start the game over. You get to retain all your cards and mechs but the game is harder. The enemies can transform earlier in the game and more often. For some reason I lost my alpha transformations and had to recollect those. Beating hard mode did not offer anything new to my knowledge, it just resets your progress again.
- The golden angel healing card that heals all damage can be found in stage 3-2 in the top right corner behind a gate. Not sure what the clear conditions are. I got it when I got the egg card.
- Best way to get all cards is to save state before the final attack in a battle. You can keep reloading and it will offer a different card. It's exhausting to keep cycling through but it works often enough.
