How to Remove a Linked Bank Account from Chime
Removing a linked bank account from your Chime app is a straightforward process that helps you manage or update your external funding sources. This is useful if you’ve changed banks, no longer use the linked account, or simply want to reduce connected accounts for security purposes.
To get started, open the Chime mobile banking app on your smartphone. If you aren’t already signed in, tap the “Log In” button and enter your registered email and password to access your Chime account.
Once logged in, tap on the gear icon or navigate to the “Settings” menu, typically located in the top-left or top-right corner of the screen depending on your app version. Scroll down and look for the section labeled “Linked Accounts.” This will show a list of all external bank accounts currently connected to your Chime account.
Find the specific bank account you want to remove and tap on it. You’ll see an option to “Unlink” or “Remove” the account. Tap that option, then confirm your choice if prompted. The external bank account will be immediately removed from your Chime account.
If you ever need to re-add the same account or link a different one, simply go back to the “Linked Accounts” section and tap on “Link a New Account.” Chime uses Plaid to securely connect to most major U.S. banks, so the linking process is fast and safe.
