Steps:

- Inside the document editor, click the ‘view’ button from the top left sidebar of Pages.

- In the view menu, click ‘show word count’.

- This will create a box that displays your word count. You can drag it to any position you want to and it will stay in that position even when you scroll.

- Click on the up / down arrow to the right of the word count and you can choose to make it show other counts such as character count, paragraph count and page count.

- To delete the word count display box , click view from the top again and then select ‘hide word count’.
