Please keep in mind that while the JACK server is running, on your monitoring device (headphones or speakers), you will only be able to hear the Guitarix output, not your desktop, you'll need a separate audio device to listen to your desktop audio at the same time.

This video is a sort of take on how to set up Guitarix by an idiot. I noticed when setting this up on my own, that there are not many resources for someone not well seasoned with JACK clients and Linux audio servers that will be easy to follow or will even work on modern distros. I hope this helps anyone also who is taking Guitarix for a spin.
