How to Speed up you Hard Disk
How to Speed up you Hard Disk
If you bought an HDD in the last couple of years,
some chances that your HDD's performance is crippled by the
Automatic Acoustic Management (AAM) feature.
AAM is a method for reducing acoustic emanations (noise reduction) and is popular especially among Western Digital HDDs. You can use software like AIDA64 or SiSoftware Sandra to determine if your HDD uses AAM. Anyhow, AAM reduces performance in exchange for acoustics.
Now if you would like to disable AAM to boost your HDD's performance, just follow the short guide below and watch the video.
1. Download the latest version of CrystalDiskInfo - link below:

2. Save then follow installation.
3. Navigate to: Function - Advanced Feature - AAM/APM Control.
4. Select the HDD and then on AAM enable BUT move the slider to the far right for PERFORMANCE and on APM click DISABLE.
DONE
- of course for a quiet slower machine do the exact opposite,
put the slider to the left and select APM ON.
IF THE SETTINGS DON'T STICK FOR IT MAY BE DOWN TO YOUR HARD DRIVE. YOU - YOU CAN ALSO TRY HDD SOFTWARE - LOTS AVAILABLE.
