When you buy ice cream in a Japanese convenience store, make sure that you buy 'real' ice cream. There are three type of 'ice cream' in Japan: ice cream, ice milk, lacto ice. Only 'ice cream' has enough milk fact to be called ice cream. Other ones are likely to use extra oil (often vegetable oil) to compensate the lack of milk fat. Some of them blatantly taste oily. It's all written on the label so always check the label.
