The best tactic I've found to stay motivated on Youtube is to understand Intrinsic and Extrinsic motivation. I first ran into these terms when researching the psychology of gamification, as I was learning how to truly "enjoy" something. Intrinsic motivation means to truly enjoy something while doing it. You are motivated by fun. Extrinsic motivation means to enjoy the reward you get for doing something. You appreciate what is provided. Motivation on Youtube is understanding them both, and using them intelligently.
