How to Stop Ruminating Thoughts (8 Simple Techniques)
Ruminating about the past is a common form of mind-wandering. It's something that most of us do. Ruminating on a past mistake or failure puts you into a vicious cycle of repetitive negative thinking. The more you ruminate, the more likely you are to make the same mistakes in the future - and rumination itself leads to anxiety, depression, anger, and self-loathing. This video gives 8 simple techniques on how to stop ruminating thoughts.
Ruminating thoughts are often difficult to stop. The reason why is because we're actually going over the event with a fine-toothed comb in detail (probably as if it was happening in real time) and replaying it - like it was on video. But, this can be something that you learn to stop, which will lessen the rumination, or at least change the nature of rumination.
I don't go too deep into Neuro-Linguistic Programming methods in this video, but I have some more ways to stop ruminating thoughts if you're interested.
