How To: Stop Water From Leaking Onto The Passenger Side Floor! 2005 Honda Civic
wjstjetset.com
*** EDIT UPDATE!!!
Unfortunately, this video doesn't give you the correct fix, but it was a good effort just the same.
Water continued to leak inside the car after my attempted fixes.
My wife eventually took it to the Honda dealer to discover, there is a metal seam along the firewall, just down below the wiper motor mount; where water was leaking in. Its a bad design flaw from the engineers when it was new.
It took the mechanics about all day to remove the entire dashboard, and find where the water was leaking in. They sealed it up best they could with silicone adhesive, and reassembled everything back together. It was an expensive labor fix, and far more involved than I would be able to do myself. However, water has not leaked inside the car since that time, but who knows if it will again at some point.
I'm sorry I never got around to updating my video, been busy with tons of other things the past few years. I hope you will see this update, and it might save you trouble and time.
If you want to see how I tried to fix it, continue reading below and watching the video.
Hey Guys!
For quite awhile, my wife's 2005 Honda Civic EX would usually leak lots of water and soap through the Fresh Air Vent, after running it through the car wash. The cabin air filters would get water logged, and as a result, the air from the blower wouldn't blow through the vents much at all.
I checked both fender drains, along the fender plastic, even ran lots of water through them, no obstructions. Water flowed freely through those drains. So that meant the plastic cowl piece probably wasn't sealing up any longer, due to age.
The same similar situation happened with my other car, the 2002 Lincoln Town Car, I will show you how I fixed that.
Watch how I changed out the plastic cowling on the Honda, as well as the weather striping for the hood. Have yet to actually test it through the car wash, but hopefully this will help you, or someone that has the same issue. It's an easy fix, and about a good $100 of parts from the Honda Dealership. You can find cheaper prices online.
