A question that seems to be commonly asked on /r/letsplay is "when I'm recording my narration or commentary separately from my gameplay, how do I make sure that they are properly synced up later?"

First off, it's very important to record narration to a separate file from your gameplay. If they're recorded together, then you lose the ability to process them separately later on. In the worst case scenario, you can find that your narration is too quiet, and is drowned out by gameplay noises, and there's nothing you can do to fix it. Recording your narration separately also means that you can perform extra processing on it, such as noise removal, compression and equalisation. This will make your voice sound better all round.

In this short video I run through my personal process for making sure that my narration is properly synced to the gameplay when making lets play videos. The whole process just takes a few seconds to perform each time, and less than two minutes to explain in detail. Hopefully once you've watched this, you'll know how to sync commentary with gameplay without problems!
