It has been five years since Hiccup and Toothless successfully united dragons and Vikings on the island of Berk. While Astrid, Snotlout and the rest of the gang are challenging each other to dragon races (the island's new favorite contact sport), the now inseparable pair journey through the skies, charting undiscovered territories and exploring new worlds. In the beginning, Hiccup is pressured by Stoick to become chief, but Hiccup (who isn't quite ready to become chief) rebels by flying away from Berk and exploring new lands. When one of their adventures leads to the discovery of a secret ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider (which turns out to be his long-lost mother, Valka), then the two friends find themselves at the center of an epic war against the self-proclaimed "Dragon God", Drago Bludvist to protect the peace. Now, Hiccup, Toothless and the other dragon riders must unite to stand up for what they believe in while recognizing that only together do they have the power to change the future of both men and dragons.
This action-adventure, movie tie-in game takes place after the end of the film with which it shares its name. In the solo game, players can create their own dragons, care for them, customize them, and enroll in dragon flight school. Set off on an adventure to become a powerful dragon rider. There are tournament events, mini-games, and training exercises, plus you can take everything you've learned in solo play to compete with your friends. Mini-games include Ice Sculpting, Looping Race, Flying Shepherd, Memory Torch, and Puzzle Dragon. Arcade Mode allows friends to select a team of four customized dragons and battle against each other. Playable characters include Astrid and Hiccup, Tuffnut, Ruffnut, Fishlegs, and Snotlout.
