While notification sounds in Windows 11 can be helpful for getting your attention, there are definitely some scenarios where they aren't welcome. For example, you probably don't want your laptop dinging with notifications while you're in a meeting or when you're recording audio. Thankfully, whether you want to turn off Windows 11 notification sounds forever or temporarily, Microsoft makes it easy to do that.
Now let's walk through the steps to turn off notification sounds in Windows 11.
Step 1. Press the "Windows" and "I" keys at the same time on your Windows 11 home screen to open the Windows 11 Settings screen.
Step 2. Make sure "System" is selected in the menu on the left side of the screen, and then click "Notifications" on the right side of the screen. The Notifications window is displayed.
Step 3. Click "Notifications." The Notifications bar will expand with additional options.
Step 4. Find "Allow Notifications to Play Sounds" and then click to remove the check mark from that option. Going forward, you'll continue to see Windows 11 notifications pop up, but a notification sound will no longer play to make you aware of those notifications.
