The Oculus Quest 2 makes recording what you see on the headset, or casting what you see to other devices, incredibly easy. However, by default, when you're either recording or casting, you'll see a red dot on your Quest 2 screen so you know that other people will be seeing what you see and do. And while the red dot does serve a noble purpose, it can be distracting and take you out of what you're experiencing in the headset. Thankfully, Meta, formerly Facebook, makes it easy to adjust the settings so the red light is no longer displayed when you're either recording or casting on the Oculus Quest 2.
Now let's walk through the steps to turn off the red light when you're either recording or casting on the Oculus Quest 2 VR headset.
Step 1. Navigate to your Oculus Quest 2 home screen, and then press the "Oculus" button on your right-hand controller to bring up the menu bar.
Step 2. Click the "Apps" icon on the menu bar. The Apps screen is displayed.
Step 3. Click "Settings." The Settings screen is shown.
Step 4. Click "System" on this screen. The System screen opens.
Step 5. Make sure "Display" is selected in the menu on the left side of the screen. The Display options will be shown on the right side of the screen.
Step 6. Click to turn off the toggle associated with "Video Capture Indicator." Going forward you'll no longer see a red dot in your Oculus Quest 2 display when you're either recording or casting.
