With the rollout of iOS 15.2 for iPhone and iPadOS 15.2 for iPad, Apple gives users greater visibility into how apps are using their data through a new App Privacy Report. With the App Privacy Report enabled, your iPhone and iPad record your app activity and lets you see how frequently apps access your data, the network and website activity associated with apps, and the domains that your apps are contacting.
Now let's walk through the steps to turn on the Apple App Privacy Report on your iPhone or iPad.
Step 1. Tap to open the "Settings" app on your iPhone or iPad. You'll land on the Settings screen.
Step 2. Scroll down the menu on this screen, and then tap "Privacy." The Privacy menu will be shown.
Step 3. Scroll down the Privacy menu and then tap "App Privacy Report." The App Privacy Report screen is displayed, giving you an overview of what the Apple App Privacy Report is.
Step 4. Tap "Turn On App Privacy Report." The App Privacy Report will now be enabled, and information for the report will be collected in the background going forward.
To see the data in the App Privacy Report, you can navigate back to this screen at any time, where you'll now see the collected information broken out into three sections.
The Data and Sensor Access section shows you apps that have accessed your data or sensors in the past seven days. The App Network Activity section shows you apps that have contacted domains in the past seven days. And the Most Contacted Domains section shows you domains that were contacted by one or more apps or websites in the past seven days.
And finally, if you decide you ever want to turn the App Privacy Report off you can easily do that by navigating back to the report, scrolling down to the bottom, and then tapping "Turn Off App Privacy Report."
