Which means online and offline have there own challenges to complete. There’s is no money shared between the modes and the garages aren’t shared so anything bought in online won’t be in story and vice versa
I've heard that player's online data is stored on the servers, which means doing this trick "ONLINE" will result in a ban. So I think it's not possible to unlock the cars which are locked in online mode using cheat engine.
