To update your PlayStation 4 (PS4) using a USB drive, follow these steps:

Visit the official PlayStation website to download the latest system software update file (PS4 update file). Make sure to download the appropriate update file for your PS4 model.

On your computer, create a new folder named "PS4" (without the quotes) on the root directory of the USB drive.

Inside the "PS4" folder, create another folder named "UPDATE" (again, without the quotes).

Copy the downloaded PS4 update file (usually named "PS4UPDATE.PUP") into the "UPDATE" folder on your USB drive.

Safely eject the USB drive from your computer.

Ensure your PS4 is powered off completely (not in Rest Mode). If your PS4 is in Rest Mode, hold the power button for at least 7 seconds until you hear a second beep to turn it off.

Connect the USB drive containing the update file to one of the available USB ports on your PS4.

Press and hold the power button on the front panel of your PS4. Release it after you hear the second beep, usually about 7 seconds later. This will start your PS4 in Safe Mode.

On the Safe Mode screen, connect a DualShock 4 controller to your PS4 using a USB cable.

Use the controller's buttons to navigate the Safe Mode menu. Select "Update System Software" from the options presented.

Follow the on-screen instructions to update your PS4 using the update file from the USB drive. The system will detect the update file and guide you through the installation process.

Once the update is complete, your PS4 will restart automatically, and you should be running the latest version of the system software.

Remember to ensure a stable power supply and not interrupt the update process to prevent any potential issues.
