#NestCam (battery) and #NestDoorbell (battery) can tell the difference between a vehicle, person, or pet. Nest Doorbell can even tell you if there is a package. All you have to do is activate the detection settings.

Here’s how you use the Detection Settings:

1. Open camera settings ➡️ Events ➡️ Seen Events to turn on the events you want recorded.
2. Turn on the notifications, so you will be alerted to what matters most to you.
3. If you have a Nest Doorbell, turn on Package Detection.
4. If you have a Nest Aware subscription, turn on the Familiar Face Detection to know who is at your door.* Enable the feature and your camera will notify you asking, “Do you know this person?” If yes, the image will be saved to the Familiar Face Library. The next time they come to your door, you will be notified.

*Familiar face alerts require a Nest Aware subscription (sold separately). Familiar face alerts not available on cameras used in Illinois.

September Description Update: Nest Cam (battery) and Nest Doorbell (battery) require the Google Home app and a Google Account – they're not compatible with the Nest app or the home.nest.com site.
