1,104Before Mario officially learned to wall jump in Super Mario 64, he could unofficially wall jump in Super Mario Bros on the NES using this conceptually simple but difficult to execute glitch!
Wall Jumping in Super Mario Bros isn't the hardest thing in the world, but it's pretty tough to get it to work consistently. In order to wall jump, Mario (or Luigi) needs to jump and collide with a wall at the correct pixel, then you need to press the A button to jump at the exact right frame.
Plus, you need to be moving with enough speed, and it won't work at certain subpixel values, but those are usually negligible factors.
Here's what you do: Jump into a wall. Aim so that Mario's feet will "land" on the very top corner of one of the blocks in the wall. If you're at the right spot, Mario will clip into the wall for just one frame before he is ejected out. On that exact frame, press A to jump.
It's simple to explain, but hard to pull off.
Note that if Mario jumps into the wall at the correct pixel, but you MISS the one-frame window to press A, Mario will change from his jumping pose to a walking or running pose. So that's one way to determine that you've at least lined the jump up properly.
