The *new* HP Reverb G2 is the highest fidelity headset available to consumers (in a reasonable price range) right now.

It's a Windows Mixed Reality headset with cameras that track your surroundings, so no base stations (like Valve Index, HTC Vive) nor external cameras (ala Oculus Rift CV1) are necessary.

Now, I have an Electrical & Electronic Engineering degree (BEEE). So, setup should be a piece of cake... right?

This will be a hardware and software setup only. I'll do a live gaming show tomorrow with at least one racing title to see how sim racing benefit. I'm a little worried about the resolution and performance, given I'm only sporting a GTX 1080, so let's see how that goes.

i7 4790K + GTX 1080

My personal favourite headset at the moment is Quest 2; so let's see how this compares to the best budget option (i.e. Quest 2 + Link). That'll be on tomorrow's show.
