Huge Tanooki collection! - Exploring Japan with Wageofsins!
6We came across this giant pottery shop on the side of the road full of tanooki (狸 those racoon dogs you see Super Mario dress as), kappa (河童 the turtle like yokai that lives in the rivers of Japan and wants to take peoples butt balls...that's a whole other story) and all sorts of other traditional Japanese characters. How could I resist but to stop and take a look! This is in Shigaraki, an area not far from Kyoto famous for its pottery (信楽).
Oh and don't mind my voice, I was on the tail end of being sick so I sound pretty awful!
