Human Vulnerability Index: Adapting to Climate Change in India's Bay of Bengal
Human Vulnerability Index: Adaptation and Alleviation to Climate Change among Fishing Communities in India’s Bay of Bengal Region
Layman's Abstract: This study looks at how climate change affects the fishing community along the southeast coast of India, an area vulnerable to cyclones. The research focuses on understanding the vulnerability of these communities to the impacts of climate change, like cyclones, extreme weather, and changing sea conditions. Using a "vulnerability index," the study found that the biggest concerns for the community were their livelihood and climate variability. Other factors like economic conditions, health, and social aspects also play a role in shaping their overall vulnerability.
