Humans and AI tells stories of passionate people from all walks of life, who are using AI to transform our society and our world for the better.

As a young biologist, Dr. Denise Hardesty was shocked to find cigarette lighters, toothbrushes, and bottle caps in the stomachs of dead albatrosses on a tiny island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Today, an estimated 5 to 12 million tons of plastic enters the oceans each year. As a lead research scientist at CSIRO in Tasmania, Dr. Hardesty is using #MicrosoftAI to lead a study that will help prevent plastics from getting into the ocean in the first place.
