I explain in this video why I'm discontinuing my hydrolyzer project.

***

Please don't be a total fuckwad and give this video one star just because I criticize the internal combustion engine. Or if you do, at least make an attempt at a rational argument to support your rating.

Please just stop being stubborn and holding on tooth and nail to a technology (more like an accident given the metrics) that never should have been seriously considered as a source of locomotion; go to the Internal Combustion Engine wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internal_combustion_engine
and look at the statistics.

The bottom line is 20% efficiency. The other 80% is waste heat. This is a perfect example of choosing the wrong chemical reaction (combustion) to get the desired results (locomotion). When you look at the design of an ICE objectively you just have to scratch your head in bewilderment. It's almost as if it were designed to waste fuel in the worst way possible.

Compare that to electrical motor efficiency, a staggering 90% and there's really no doubt about which is the superior model. And that's not even taking the ridiculous complexity of the ICE architecture into account.

Would you use a furnace to light your house? Of course not, furnaces are designed to create heat not produce light, although they do give off light as an incidental side effect of combustion. The same is true for ICEs, locomotion is just a potential side effect of combustion. However only a primate would be stupid enough to adapt the process of burning fuel to moving a vehicle from point A to point B.

Although ironically an 1800s steam engine gets better energy efficiency than a 2008 computerized fuel injection ICE! So face the facts already, the internal combustion engine is a monumental failure of design and engineering, yes it works, but so poorly it can hardly even be called technology.

The main reason people get all worked up over this kind of criticism is because they can't dispute the numbers, and yet they can't accept the truth. Our entire society is powered by anachronistic relics from the dark age of the industrial revolution.. makes us all look pretty stupid doesn't it? Yes it does.
