Welcome! To Let's Hyper Light Drifter – gameplay and walkthrough, part 3! After previous episode of Hyper Light Drifter its time to find the remaining crystals of the North region, The Winding Ridge. We are lacking two crystals to cleanse the North region. I have miss one by not going future south from the portal to the previous dungeon I did. So follow that path in to another dungeon of the North region. Here we will find another two new enemy's of the Winding Ridge:
- Soldier, it’s a enemy with a gun easy to avoid shots with low speed of reloading. Take him out by range or sneak around cover for a clean sword Slice. The Solider of the Bird People is not that heavy enemy to kill hes only advantage is his range.
- Heavy Solider, this guy is a different story. Just as the Solider of the Bird people in the North region of Hyper Light Drifter, he uses a range weapon. Problem is it’s a rocket launcher… Yeah… this is what happens when magic meets science. His rockets are pretty fast and harder to avoid, hit a lot more then the soldiers gun but then again, The Heavy solider is more then happy to rush towards You.
The last crystal is hidden in a dark crypt and I can’t go behind two blocks with a wird north pointing arrow. After searching around for money or credits I have found a lock door, the same one from part 1 of Hyper Light Drifter. Apparently You need more then 1 crystal in order to open them. Inside I have found a gigantic library of the North region. With a lot of guard and other bird man! Nothing hard for the Drifter to deal with right ? There are a lot of secrets in the library of The Winding Ridge along with all the bird men! After going thought the entire library doing a few jump puzzles, dealing with Bird Man Guard made of priests and divers. I have found it… The Boss of North.
According to steam cards he is called The Hierophant and he is one of the harder bosses in Hyper Light Drifter. Since we fight in a library and most of the enemy's in North region are casters there is no wonder the boss himself is also a Caster mage type. Well the hardest right ? We will see
The North Boss uses a few of attacks and changes them as the fight progress. But he does attack in a pattern, as always the most important information we can get from starting a fight with the North Boss of The Winding Ridge in Hyper Light Drifter is the number of maxi-mum attacks in a row the Mage Boss can make. At start this Bird Mage will cast a homing worm attack that will travel after us, the more we lower hp of the Bird Boss the faster worm will move. After each worm he perform a blast attack, this one also changes per health lost. At the beginning the Blast is in total made out of five squares. Later the The Hierophant will cast blast in rows of the entire room. After a worm attack, blast attack and another warm attack the Bird Mage will teleport back in to the middle of the room and preformed a sum-mon of fourth divers! Theos will instantly travel towards You, keep in mid the Bird mage is HUGE for a caster enemy, his hit box is big and he will block Your dash. AS always in games like Hyper Light Drifter the best basic tactic is to attack and dodge, attack and doge until the enemy has been rendered silent. After dealing with the Bird Mage, move back to the dark crypt room and dash thought the traps, travel a bit there and sooner or later You should spot the last crystal and so we have cleared the North Region of Hyper Light Drifter also known as the Winding Ridge clear of corruption
