Hyper Light Drifter Meets Dark Souls (Top-down Soulslike) | FOUNTAINS demo
9Hello everyone! Another demo here. This is FOUNTAINS, a top-down soulslike/metroidvania with pixel art and it really gave me some Dark Souls/Hyper Light Drifter vibes (It also reminded me a little bit to Hunt The Night). There is a lot to explore, different paths, different items to get a lot of enemies and secrets. Action is tough and, to be fair, might be a bit annoying. As a soulslike, your hits and your rolls cost stamina, but some enemies are too relentless and you don't stagger any them. Nevertheless, every enemy stagger you with attacks and can push you pretty far (I ended up getting fall damage plenty of times). So, even when I did enjoy the game, it didn't feel too fair at times.
Also, sadly no level up system, you depend on the items you find, which most of the time were pretty boring, except by that deflecting ring, which was awesome.
I like that even when it's a demo, there is already a lot of enemy variety and a lot to explore (metroidvania fans will enjoy his last part). I mean, it took me almost 2 hours to complete my demo playthrough, and I left some places unexplored (not to mention I did not backtrack with the grappling hook).
Finally, I gotta confess that I played a demo for this game over a year ago, but the recording had no audio, and I didn't feel like replaying it back in the day. So, this is not too new for me, but there have been more than a few changes since I played it the previous times (I don't remember that first boss shooting that many projectiles)
