After a long career with the British Army, Kirk decided to put his skills to private security work in Iraq.
He was tasked with escorting clients up and down the country and as ISIS began to close in on Baghdad in the summer of 2013, Kirk would experience a day he will never forget.
As his tour began to wind down, Kirk's vehicle was hit in an IED blast while travelling at 60mph.
