I Gave Up At Level 60: How the Leveling Grind Crushes Casual Solo Players in Diablo 4
It's come to this. I haven't played Diablo 4 in a week, and it's all because of how depressing the level grind is. Yes, you CAN do things other than spam dungeons in a four stack to level, but it takes forever, and feels bad, especially compared to the pace of the rest of the game.
And I'm fully aware that despite my complaints, I would easily be level 100 by now if I had played all last week. But I would have hated every minute of it. It feels awful to spend hours finishing a few nightmare dungeons and only have a single level to show for it. It feels even worse to spam the same dungeon for those same hours. It's 2023, if a game is going to force me to grind like its 2002, I'm just going to move on. Grinding can be fun, but grinding the exact same content in the exact same way for hours at a time? No thank you.
That being said, as I upload this, I've just seen the dev chat stream from Friday, and some buffs to nightmare dungeons are coming. That's a good start; a few more changes like that, and we might have something here.
I'm sure I'll be back either way, but I was just frustrated and wanted to vent some of that.
