I Have A Bad Feeling About This
Composition for Star Wars day. The position represents the finale of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The rebels are the white pieces, attempting to destroy the Empire's first Death Star (black pieces) with the Rebel Alliance having the move. (Conventional algebraic notation is slightly adjusted to make the solution more Star Wars friendly.)
The rebels win with a single move: R2D2!
a few lore questions:
- why were the Empire's Star Destroyers/TIE fighter defenses absent in this battle?
- who piloted the Rebel's remaining Y-wing?
- TIE pilots are most usually serviceable in space combat, why were Vader's wingmen so poor? OR
- did Vader know that the rebels would be successful? (or had a light-side flashback), and use a jedi mind trick on his wingman to deliberately throw his TIE advanced out of play so he could escape? & on that note, Vader's TIE targeting system isn't precise, i suppose a prototype, but why take the risk?
