I Received a Microaggression: Let’s Talk about It
Visual Description: A woman is surrounded by a wooden picture frame. She addresses the camera. She is situated on the right-side of the screen, in order to leave room on the left side to show window capture footage from YouTube. She shows what video she received a hurtful comment on, as well as the hurtful comment (with the person's username and profile picture blurred to protect their privacy). A photograph of a field of dandelions has been used as an overall background layer, helping to fill in any blank spaces on screen, as well as to provide visual continuity between this video and the woman's other content.
Description: Today I received a microaggression in the form of a comment. I acknowledge that sometimes people don't understand WHY their words are hurtful. I decided to take this situation and use it as an opportunity to help educate folks about microaggressions, and how dehumanizing this sort of language can be. I hope that in so doing, I can help to make the world a more accepting and kindhearted place. ❤️
