Over the course of this year, I decided to have my girlfriend Ellie play Hollow Knight for the very first time. She had never touched the game or even the Metroidvania genre and I was incredibly curious to see how she would handle it. What followed was dozens of hours of victories, defeats and everything in between. I’ve chronicled her journey in a series of videos but today, I want to zoom and out and explore my findings from watching a new comer try to conquer Hollow Knight and also hear from the player herself.
