I upgraded my older HP Pavilion Gaming 15 laptop by replacing the sluggish 7200 RPM hard disk with a WD SATA SSD. I also upgraded the RAM from 8 to 16 GB, so now it runs smoother than when it was new! The SSD was about $80, and the RAM was about $30. For a cost of $110, I completely revamped this system.
