This retry took less than 5 minutes once we completed it the first time with many failed attempts.
when the upper player is in the bubbles, once you are going back and forth, move left or right as you see your character start to rise and that is perfect enough to not fall out short or gain too much speed. Its most consistant to move sideways once you are raising inside the bubble.
