IBM's supercomputer Watson is moving on from its success on Jeopardy! and is coming to a smartphone near you. Coming in the second half of this year, consumers will be able to download their own Watson-powered app, "Ask Watson."
But Watson won't just be limited to smartphones -- the supercomputer is also taking on customer service via call centers. IBM reports that American businesses lose an estimated $83 billion each year as a direct result of poor customer experience. Watson hopes to change that because of the computer's abilities in understanding the subtleties of the human language and as a direct result, it delivers fast, evidence-based answers to users' questions.
