Made in 1996 for the Birthright series of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons pen and paper games, Birthright: The Gorgon's Alliance was a strange mix of Kingdom Building, Lineage Simulation, Mass Combat and Adventure Game.
While the tactical/strategical portions of the game are fairly typical and on-par with games of it's time, the adventure mode was slightly klunky. Probably from the effort of trying to squeeze an adventure game into a first person shooter-style engine.
Some of the ambient sound effects seem to even come straight from the old Doom games.
