A lot of reboots either get loved or hated, but Splinter Cell: Conviction managed to do both. As action packed as it is controversial, I wade through Sam Fisher's most personal journey across the entire series. Turns out, it actually isn't all that bad, despite a few chinks in the armor.

Also skip the PC version -- it has horrible "always online" DRM that Ubisoft never removed. Get it on Xbox 360 or Mac, if you have the choice.
