I’m DONE With Kickstarter Hacking Gadgets: Scams, Success & What I Learned (Have They Peaked?)
In this video, I share my personal journey with Kickstarter hacking gadgets—the good, the bad, and the scams—and what I’ve learned along the way.
I break down my past experiences, including how I helped support the BLEShark Nano, which had one of the best Kickstarter campaigns I’ve seen in this space. On the flip side, I also expose campaigns that turned out to be scams and why they failed.
I also dive into the new project called Interrupt, a penetration testing Linux gadget. While the idea has potential, their Kickstarter campaign needs serious improvements. Without more transparency and changes, I can’t continue my support.
This leads to the bigger question: Have pen testing gadgets peaked?
• Are we just seeing endless rebranded copies of what already exists?
• The only recent innovation I’ve noticed is the Wi-Fi Pineapple Pager, thanks to its unique form factor and capabilities.
• Should we keep trusting Kickstarter projects, or is it time to walk away and focus on companies with real, working products?
• Or maybe we should just build our own multi-tools using affordable devices and the Bruce firmware, cutting the cost while still getting the job done?
⚡ Do you think Kickstarter hacking gadgets are worth backing anymore—or have they peaked for good? Let me know in the comments.
