Ben Reilly is Spider-Man, and truth be told he really shouldn't need to ask Peter permission, nor should Peter expect him to.

Looking back, Spider-Man Beyond really did drop the ball with the relationship between Ben and Peter Parker, as well as his supporting cast of characters. The whole thing just feels like a rushed waste of time to get Ben into the role of Chasm without any proper buildup or payoff.

Why spend an entire arc breaking a character down not to lift them up by the end, but keep them down? Why write for a character you clearly dislike?

Marvel needs to undo this whole thing with Mephisto trickery or whatever, it's the only way it would make sense.
