I'm Not Happy With Where Sour Gas Or Bust Has Ended Up:
12Basically the title. I have been too relaxed about some major issues in this run and it's resulted in the playthrough being very slow and not really a good example of how to set up a colony. I've summarised a few of my issues with the run here. Overall, I think I was too focused on not building "temporary" infrastructure and moving the base as soon as possible. So I took too long to set up robust food infrastructure, never actually set up the Cool Steam Vents for reliable Oxygen near the dupes, and releasing Slimelung compounded the Long Commutes issue to the point of the dupes not really being productive at all. So I think I'm going to restart this run and take a different attitude to this. I think I really need to get Atmo Suits going much earlier with the new temperature mechanics.
I really didn't want to restart this run but having caused this many issues this early on, I think we might as well reattempt the run on the original intended seed (https://mapsnotincluded.org/map-explorer/V-OCAN-C-2138180112-0-0-0) and consider this a practise run. Let me know what your thoughts are on this.
The aim of this run is for me to execute my plans from my Water recycling videos ( • How To Recycle Water Forever in Oxyge... and • How To Recycle Water EVEN HARDER in O... ) and build a completely sustainable and well-organised colony with zero inputs. But first this means I'll need to explore our asteroid, set up a normal base first, and get some industry going.
