Sour Gas #OrBust! Part 2: Better Water Sources (ONI: Spaced Out!)
17This VOD is the 2nd part of my rebooted long-term Sour Gas Boiling play-through for Oxygen Not Included! In this video, we explore the asteroid further to find our Water sources that will help us set up a standard base before we get into all of the craziness later. On this seed we actually have two Cool Slush Geysers that we can use as Metal Refinery coolant for the Pincha Peppers in our Drecko block, and we also have a Water Geyser (albeit a low output one) that we can use to get our first SPOM made. We also find Jorge and overall reach some conclusions on where we're going to relocate the base to later on. We also collect all of the wild Plug Slugs into a safe location so that we get some free power and they don't accidentally munch all of our Metal Ore. We'll still set up the Cool Steam Vent later to show you how I was thinking of doing it on the previous run. Cycles 21-45 are in this video.
I rebooted this run because the old run had crawled to halt due to my complacency and I thought it was worth trying it again on the original seed (https://mapsnotincluded.org/map-explorer/V-OCAN-C-2138180112-0-0-0). This original planet was Geodormant and has a lot of extra room for all of our late-game industrial plans. I am confident we can get back to where we were in the previous run very quickly. I'm NOT restarting again.
The aim of this run is for me to execute my plans from my Water recycling videos ( • How To Recycle Water Forever in Oxygen Not... and • How To Recycle Water EVEN HARDER in Oxygen... ) and build a completely sustainable and well-organised colony with zero inputs. But first this means I'll need to explore our asteroid, set up a normal base first, and get some industry going. This is going to be a longer-than-usual run, and I'm hoping to explore the rest of the Spaced Out content that I never got around to here too. We may occasionally interrupt it with short challenges.
