IMPORTANT: Lunar Vow affix comparison - lightning damage is better | Honkai Impact 3rd v7.0 Beta
52A lot of Lunar Vow's % damage mods are low, for example her ultimate has 45 hits of 3% of Lunar Vow's attack. This means when you give her a 23 attack affix (23 is the maximum value), her ultimate will scale it down to 3% of 23 so your affix is only contributing 0.69 attack.
Lightning damage affixes do not get scaled down and are applied as flat values, so a 15 lightning damage affix (15 is the maximum value) is much higher than 0.69 attack.
Mathematically, 15 is 65.2% of 23, so when the damage % is less than 65.2% of Lunar Vow's attack then lightning affixes start to outperform attack affixes. The improvement becomes larger as the % of attack gets lower.
In this video the damage dealt with attack affixes and lightning damage affixes are displayed side by side, so you can see the difference in damage for each of Luna's attacks.
The only hits where attack affixes deal more damage are:
- the combo attack, both the 5 weak hits (100% of atk) and the strong last hit (600% of atk)
- last hit of "In the Name of Protection", this is the hold weapon attack (300% of atk)
- last hit of the ultimate (400% of atk)
- her passive "Dreamlike Hues of That Day" that deals bonus lightning damage on each bleed tick (15% of atk); this ability is NOT affected by lightning damage affixes that's why lightning affix is still losing even though it is 15% atk
The most extreme case of lightning affix advantage is the 3% of atk hits during the ultimate at 1:07, where attack affix deals 9666 and lightning affix deals 26260, a 2.72x damage increase in this showcase!
